This year’s Greek Eurovision entrant will also represent her country at the OGAE Second Chance Contest – It’s Demy!
On the 6th of March, Greek national final took place, where we saw the videoclips of three potential songs for Demy in Kiev. While the viewers and juries put their faith in the song “This Is Love” to bring the trophy back to Athens, OGAE Greece chose “When The Morning Comes Around” to represent them at the OGAE Second Chance Contest 2017. The song was written by a famous Greek composer Dimitris Kontopoulos with the lyrics by John Ballard, and it came second during the national final gaining the support of Azerbaijani jury.
Demy (real name: Dimitra Papadea) was born in 1991 and is one of the hottest names among the young Greek pop scene. She first appeared in the song “Mia Zografia” with a Greek rap singer Midenistis, which became a huge hit in Greece and Cyprus. The song received two awards at the MAD Video Music Awards 2012, and Demy herself won the award for the Best New Artist. In 2013 she performed “Believe” together with Russian Eurovision winner Dima Bilan during the Greek National Final for Eurovision. She continued to release new music and on January 13, 2017 she was announced the Greek representative for Eurovision 2017 in Kiev.
